Emmet County Energy, LLC encompasses the true definition of a community wind project. The important difference between our business model and others is simple. We offer shared ownership in the actual profits. There are many developers out there, but few offer our local ownership-based model.

Many international developers will tell you that they benefit the community wind by providing landowners with royalty or lease payments. While this does provide some benefit to the community, under this model, there is no chance for ownership, local participation, or influencing the project.

This is not how Emmet County Energy operates. We created a joint ownership structure for this project with the landowners and community as our partner.

We give landowners the chance to own the project, influence the project and receive a majority of the economic benefits, encouraging local investment and involvement, fostering further community camaraderie and growth.
